An event programme will follow registration.

The second of three events funded through the Scottish Universities Insight Institute, continues our aim to mobilise dialogue, debate and alliances that will create spaces for change in Scottish criminal justice and in responses to offending behaviour. In addition, the event will consider some of the obstacles to change while also engaging with ideas of how we can take this conversation into local areas – event(s) 3.

Lord Carloway, the new Head of Scotland’s judiciary, will address the theme of ‘progressing Scottish justice?’. The event will also involve contributions from Professor Mike Nellis, Positive Prison? Positive Futures, Oliver Escobar and Vox Liminis.

As before, this is not an academic or policy gathering. The aim of this series is to provide a space for interested actors and voices to come together to respond to the growing mood in civic Scotland for political, cultural and institutional change in relation to Scottish justice matters. Participants should come with ideas and be prepared to take forward actions in their own areas of influence to effect change.

As you will see, this event is billed as a ‘1+1 event’. The idea is to come along yourself and bring someone with you who cares about Scottish Justice but who might not normally be part of this conversation.
